The Apple Watch Series 9 hit the market in 2023 with a host of subtle but useful upgrades from the previous version (the Series 8). The screen has doubled in brightness to 2000 nits, the processor has been updated to the S9, and a new U2 ultrawide-band chip has been included to make finding your phone easier. One fun update is the ability to use a thumb and forefinger tapping gesture to trigger actions like pausing videos, answering calls, and silencing alarms.
Owners of previous editions of the Apple Watch will be right at home with the style of the Series 9, as the design language is unchanged. Models are available in 41 and 45 millimeters. The vibrant always-on displays use OLED technology and measure in at 352 x 430 px for the 41mm model and 396 x 484 px for the 45mm model.
